BETA Skills Professional Development Opportunities
The National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce (NCBW) at Forsyth Technical Community College has two exciting NSF ATE sponsored programs this summer (2024).
Program No. 1 is the BETA Skills Summer Industry Fellows Program. Five places are reserved for program Fellows (instructors) to spend 6-8 weeks with a local industry or institution partner. Expenses are covered and a weekly stipend is paid. This program was a great success in summer 2023.
Program No. 2 is new. It is called the BETA Skills Bioscience Administrator's Program or BETA BAP. This is a 3.5-day program in June 10-13, 2024. Our target audience is college deans, VPs, and presidents. This program will give the participant a deep dive into biomedical emerging technology application (BETA) trends via discussion groups with local company CEOs & Subject Matter Experts, site visits to BETA type companies and some lab exposure which will be skills related. This session is designed to give administrators a forum to learn more about these emerging trends and think about the impact on future programs they administer. Travel expenses will be covered.
