The proposed National Science Foundation project, Needed Math for a Workforce in Transition (NMWT), is seeking innovative community college faculty. If funded, this project will bring together teams of math and technical program educators with local industry professionals to co-create classroom-ready, real-world instructional materials that integrate mathematics into authentic manufacturing workplace challenges. Faculty in biomanufacturing programs are particularly needed.

Project Launch: National Symposium

Kick off your involvement at a high-impact Symposium featuring:

  • Keynotes from top economists and manufacturing executives
  • Insights from research on education, technology, and workforce trends
  • Best practices from prior NSF projects

Faculty Role:

Throughout the 3-year project, teams will:

  • Develop 2 contextualized math activities per year for math and technical courses
  • Pilot test and refine these lessons with students
  • Distribute student surveys and provide feedback to the project team
  • Attend 4 virtual meetings per year
  • Promote the use of scenarios within your department or college
  • Receive annual stipends
