InnovATEBIO Seeks Bioscience Industry Leaders and Trendsetters to Attend First Ever #EnvisioningBioscience Summit

Washington, DC (May 24, 2023) - InnovATEBIO National Center for Biotechnology Education (InnovATEBIO) is gearing up to host career education leaders, industry innovators, state teams, and government experts from around the nation at the first-ever #EnvisioningBioscience summit. Envisioning the Next Bioscience Workforce Summit on Industry Trends and Needs will connect stakeholders to biotechnology trendsetters, explore the latest technologies, and provide the opportunity to collaborate on training that will grow the nation’s growing biotechnology workforce. The summit, to be held Monday, June 26, is open to bioscience leaders, who can register here.

“This June’s summit will give industry stakeholders a chance to see what trends are coming down the pipeline and share what future preparation is needed to ensure the country has the best skilled technical workforce from the community college, 2-year perspective,” says Russ H. Read, Executive Director of the National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce.

The summit agenda includes the following:

  • Bioscience presentations from guest speakers who are experts in biopharmaceuticals, biomedical devices, agricultural biotechnology, cell-based foods, bioprocessing, bioengineering, synthetic biology, and more.
  • State team members, or representatives from each state’s bio initiative, who will be available for one-on-one meetings.
  • Networking and collaboration opportunities for industry, government, and community colleges.
  • Fireside chats and discussions with alum professionals who are excelling in the biotechnology field.
  • Resource tables for industry sponsors, manufacturing institutes, and Advanced Technological Education (ATE) programs.
  • A presentation of InnovATEBIO’s mission, collaboration strategy, and biotech workforce development initiatives.

Last year, the U.S. Biotechnology market grossed $190 billion in revenue and will continue growing for the next five years. With the help of local, state, and government entities, biotech higher education programs nationwide are focused on preparing students to master similar skill standards and performance outcomes to meet future industry demands.

About InnovATEBIO, the National Biotechnology Education Center: InnovATEBIO is supported by a five-year Advanced Technical Education (ATE) grant to advance biotechnology technician education nationally through cutting-edge professional training for instructors and share the best practices among community college programs, administrators, trade organizations, and industry. The Center seeks to develop a collaborative infrastructure that supports innovation and promptly addresses the needs of the biotechnology community. InnovATEBIO aims to coordinate ATE-funded biotechnology projects to identify opportunities to generate partnerships and collaborations that will accelerate innovation in biotechnology education.
