This is day 2 on the set where the educational interactive movie: Making the Call: Quality in Biomanufacturing is being filmed. The purpose of this “choose your own adventure” movie is to prepare students to work in a regulated biomanufacturing environment. Yesterday our intrepid actors encountered several workplace challenges in their roles as biomanufacturing technicians. The character, Corrine, accidentally turned the wrong valve potentially contaminating a batch of the life-saving (fictitious) drug, Squabanin. How she handles this crisis will determine the fate of her career…

Today we are introduced to a new character, the production manager played by Aseem Agrawal. Aseem is feeling stressed because the company president has expressed concern about the possibility of losing a big account. Poor decisions on Aseem’s part could have disastrous effects on the company...

Behind the scenes there is fortunately little drama, other than an ill-fitting bunny suit and a shortage of donuts. According to the writer and science editor, David Levin, we are on schedule, which, he reports, is “mind-boggling.” The director, Bob Roche, is impressive, as he coaxes the right attitudes and inflections from the actors – asking them to act but not over-act.

Aseem gets a reapplication of face powder before considering the valves and lines on the CIP skid. Director, Bob Roche, is reviewing the script with Aseem.
