This article (1) explores the use of a free and simple Expectation Clarity Tool to enhance biotech-related internships for community college students. By clearly outlining and sharing expectations, success metrics, and training strategies, mentors and interns experienced increased confidence and improved relationships. Both parties reported positive impacts on the overall success of the internships, highlighting the tool's effectiveness in fostering better communication and understanding. A template tool, implementation suggestions and assessment metrics are included in the article! An overview and related resources can also be found on the Building Inclusive Labs website.
