Faculty Opportunity: Tiny Earth CURE Course

Are you interested in teaching a microbiology CURE (course-based undergraduate research experience) with real-world relevance? Dr. Jo Handelsman, world-renowned microbiologist and former OSTP Associate Director for President Obama, developed Tiny Earth, a CURE where college students discover new antibiotics in soil bacteria.
There are still a few slots available in the next instructor training January 10-14, 2022 (virtual). The training is FREE! Applications from instructors who identify as members of a group that has historically been excluded from science or who are at minority-serving institutions and two-year colleges are particularly encouraged to APPLY!
What is Tiny Earth?
Tiny Earth’s low-cost curriculum inspires students to engage in scientific research while addressing some of the most pressing global challenges of our century—the diminishing supply of effective antibiotics, a rapid decline in soil health, and an underrepresentation of diversity among scientists. It is supported by an immersive instructor training program that has empowered more than 700 instructors to teach it at diverse institutions, ranging from two-year colleges to research universities. Our long-term vision is for every first-year college student to take a research course such as Tiny Earth.
