Water quality technicians work in accordance with the Clean Water Act to prevent water supply contamination and comply with federal regulations. They maintain records according to guidelines from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and control processes to transfer or treat water and liquid waste. They perform laboratory and field tests to monitor the environment and identify sources of pollution. They also maintain field equipment, record data, and report results.
