Event Description
Welcome to the InnovATEBIO 2024 series of virtual ATE project talks. This series features leaders in biotechnology workforce education from across the US sharing their work on exciting projects funded by the National Science Foundation's Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. The ATE program supports the education of technicians for the high-technology fields that drive our nation's economy.
Our two speakers this week will talk about their experiences with project based learning and improving internships.
Each talk will be 20 minutes, followed by 15 minutes for questions and discussion.

Talk 2: Catalyzing Creativity Through Antibody Engineering Hackathons
Description: Antibodies are one of the most important tools in modern biology. They are used to create drugs, diagnose disease, and serve as important reagents for biological research. Engineering antibodies is a common activity in the biotech industry, but it is not common practice in educational programs. We started the Antibody Engineering Hackathons to develop antibody-related research projects that instructors can use with individual students or in their courses. This presentation will discuss projects we’re tackling this summer and some of our previous results.
