What are BETA Skills?

BETA Skills advances the understanding of what biomedical emerging technology applications will require of technician-specialists whose core work skills and knowledge base include the interdisciplinary nature of convergent platforms at the interface of biomedical devices and tissue engineering.

Program:

  • Day 1 - Cell culture & Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Day 2 - Good Manufacturing Practices for Medical Devices
  • Day 3 - Gowning & Single Use Fermentation
  • Day 4 -3-D Printing lab and Medical Device Company visitation
  • Day 5 - Visit to the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine & closing lunch & presentations

Cost/Expenses: No registration fee. Our NSF ATE Grant DUE #1800909 will reimburse* travel, meals (per diem) and lodging expenses. * Forsyth Tech, the administrator of the NSA ATE DUE Grant #1800909 (BETA Skills), will reimburse the preapproved travel expenses such as hotel, per diem meals, airfare, and ground travel as per the Travel Authorization and FT policies. Supporting documents for the travel reimbursement must be submitted to Forsyth Tech within 30 days of my date of return. Traveler will be responsible for any charges incurred in the event that he/she does not attend the professional development as registered or if he/she fails to submit the necessary supporting documents.

How to apply: There are ten (10) openings. We will accept applicants until the cohort is filled. The successful applicant must complete the application process in a timely manner. Failure to do so will result in losing the opportunity. We require a short letter stating why you wish to take the program and a letter of recommendation from your administration/supervisor/colleague.
