This February workshop will introduce teachers to the introductory curriculum strand developed through the NSF bio-itest project.

This curriculum is designed primarily for high school teachers and focuses on using bioinformatics tools to explore questions around testing for one of the breast cancer susceptibility genes (BRCA1).

Austin Community College will be offering a semester long, on-line course in bioinformatics Fall semester 2010.

Bioinformatics (BITC 2350) introduces current topics in bioinformatics and computational biology. The course discusses methods for high-throughput data collection, storing, and accessing biological data. Covers programs and algorithms used to analyze data.
