InnovATEBIO State Teams Initiative
InnovATEBIO National Summit, June 2023
In June 2023, InnovATEBIO held a national summit with over 300 attendees from education, industry, trade associations, government, and workforce development groups. The goal of the summit was to learn about emerging trends and technologies and to convene parties from each to state to work on developing action plans for fostering the biotechnology workforce ecosystem in their state. See InnovATEBIO - Envisioning the Next Bioscience Workforce Report web.pdf (6.17 MB).
The nascent state teams discussed how academia, industry, and government entities might work together to develop the talent needed for the biotech industry.
Post Summit Activities
After the summit, pilot teams in many states began meeting to discuss how interested parties might collaborate. Since 2023, InnovATEBIO has held three community meetings to discuss state team progress and findings. Presentations on state teams were also given at HI-TEC conferences in 2023 and 2024. To date, we know of teams in the following states: California, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
