The Biotechnology Program at City College of San Francisco trains a diverse group of students for careers as technicians and lab assistants at companies and academic institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area. The program offers hands-on classes in techniques such as PCR, ELISA, Western blot, cell culture, stem cell culture, protein purification, and recombinant DNA cloning. Two internship programs provide opportunities to gain experience in the biotechnology industry, along with career and networking skill development highlighted at the City College of San Francisco Biosymposium each semester.
The Biotechnology Program at City College of San Francisco is also home to the innovative and nationally recognized Bridge to Bioscience program that trains students with no former science background to be technicians and lab assistants in 2 semesters.
