Biotechnology is a growing area in Alabama.  BIO Alabama, the trade organization, estimates that biotech contributes 7.3 billion to the state's economy. Calhoun Community College contributes by educating biotechnicians for this growing area. The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology works to foster new entrepreneurship, provide teacher professional development, and conduct genomics research.
