Are you interested in an opportunity to learn the skills necessary to be a process technician in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing company? BioWork is a certificate program (offered at 12 North Carolina community colleges) that can help students from diverse educational and experiential backgrounds start careers as process technicians. Process technicians are a critical part of the production of chemical and pharmaceutical products. Their responsibilities can included handling and analyzing materials, record keeping, monitoring and managing the production process as well as maintaining regulatory standards.

BioWork Topics include:

Johnston Community College (JCC) , Johnston County Public Schools , Novo Nordisk , and Grifols are teaming up to bring the BioWork certificate program to all of Johnston County's traditional public high schools. This pre-apprenticeship will allow juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn a BioWork certificate, which will count as one year of work experience in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility and will give them credit for two courses if they pursue an associate degree in Biotechnology at JCC.
