An Inside View of Bay Area Biotech Education

BABEC, the Bay Area Biotechnology Education Consortium, is dedicated to supporting access to biotech education for all high school and community college students in the Bay Area. BABEC ensures that science teachers have the professional development and technical and material support they need to provide students with a premier life science education. BABEC serves the Bay Area community by working with teachers to engage students with high tech, hands on, relevant lab experiences, supporting content mastery and next generation science practices while promoting the development of critical thinking skills. Through our collaborations we drive connections between classroom science experiences to current biotech applications and careers in the biotech industry. BABEC provides between 20,000-40,000 student lab experiences each year.
