Connections--so important in life in general and certainly in the workforce. But how to make them? How to learn from people who have made the leap you want to make too? Speed networking, a program built by Karen Leung and her co-principal investigators, provides excellent opportunities for students and industry representatives to have multiple short and impactful conversations.

ATE Central recently highlighted the Speed Networking program, which is part of a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education grant titled "Increasing Student Retention and Recruitment through Alumni Programs, Speed Networking, and Industry Engagement Project [DUE# 2202011]". The ATE Central article, posted by Madeline Patton March 10, 2025 and titled "Speed Networking Helps Students, Industry & Community College Biotech Programs",  discusses the project's genesis as a biotechnology career exploration course in 2017 to today's Zoom format, and covers the exciting impact the program is having on both students and industry representatives.

Read about a program for which 100% of the 161 alumni and industry representatives who completed the survey after a speed networking session reported that they had a rewarding experience!

And better yet, think about how you can implement Speed Networking in your program.
