Hi InnovATEBIO Folks,

Every day there is  something newsworthy regarding innovation in the biosciences. That’s precisely why  we agreed on the name of InnovATEBIO for the NSF ATE National Center for Biotechnology Education.

So as most of you read this week, an article was published and the headline at the British Broadcasting Corporation summary got my attention “ One of biology's biggest mysteries 'largely solved' by AI”.

The three - dimensional shape of a protein determination by using an artificial intelligence platform is huge. This will enhance our “hunt” for therapeutic options  for treating disease. We will be much more efficient, as in the speed of identification, in finding effective therapies, by knowing the structure of  potential proteins quickly using  artificial intelligence.

We encourage you to read the BBC article which nicely lays out the process.
