Old Dominion University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is pleased to announce its Summer 2022 Research Experiences for Undergraduates program for community college students interested in a career in chemistry or a related field. This REU Site is funded by the National Science Foundation. This is a unique opportunity open to community college students!

The 10-week (May 30 – Aug 5, 2022) program will give community college students the opportunity to work in a lab on a real-world research project and gain valuable skills for transfer to a 4-year major and a future STEM career or graduate program.

They are seeking community college students that fit the following criteria:

- strong interest in a career in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related STEM field

- completion of science-majors’ college chemistry lecture and lab by Spring 2022

- enrollment in a community college in Spring 2022 (you are still eligible if you are completing your community college program in Spring 2022!)

- US citizen or permanent resident

Women, minorities, first generation college students and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who are not planning to pursue an MD.

Participants receive a generous stipend ($5000), on-campus housing, and travel assistance to and from the site if outside the Hampton Roads area.

Scan the QR code, download the attached file, and visit the program's website for additional information!  The online application must be completed by Mar 4th 2022
