The Coalition of State Bioscience Institutes is Helping You!

Submitted by EA Stewart on 22 February, 2017.

Did you know that there is a strong need for knowledge-based employees in the life sciences industry?  The Coalition of State Bioscience Institutes (CSBI) studies industry needs and publishes on a regular basis so that the community can stay informed about biotechnology in America.  The CSBI 2016 Workforce Trends Report provides a snapshot of the current and projected needs in the life sciences industry and is available for download.  For those just thinking about college, the Trends Report may help them choose a career that will be in demand when they need a job. For community college graduates the Trends Reports is a valuable addition to their job hunting efforts.

What is the CSBI?

The Coalition began in 2012 when 42 state bioscience organizations and the Biotechnology Institute came together to ensure America’s leadership in bioscience innovation.  Since then the Institute has provided national leadership on such topics as workforce development, bioscience education and entrepreneurship.

There are a number of organizations looking to give a boost to the biosciences community.  Many of them are specific to a local or state community. However the Coalition of State Bioscience Institutes focuses on bioscience programs that can have a broad impact across the nation. These are the programs that the life science industry is uniquely positioned to share, are replicable and scalable, align with Common Core Learning Standards for K-12 and last but not least, are extensible to other STEM industry sectors.  All in all, these programs pack quite a punch!

Hear from two of the leaders of CSBI, Lori Lindburg and Liisa Bozinovic in our soon-to-be-published follow on blog of an interview Bio-Link had with them this spring.
