The Exam Preview Project
The Exam Preview Project is an NSF-funded mission to better understand what works for students and instructors in developing excellent, engaging, inclusive exams for college STEM courses. As its first year of research is ending, we are recruiting for instructors in STEM at two-year colleges who might be interested in participating in the research next year.
The main features are:
-Needed: Instructors who will teach two sections of the same STEM course in the same term during the 2025-2026 academic year
-The participating instructor will teach one section with their normal style of exams
-The other section’s exams will be designed, with personal coaching, in an evidence-based ‘exam preview’ style
-The Exam Preview Project research team will interview instructors and a few students and collect a few other types of data while minimizing any paperwork
Along with the team's appreciation, participating instructors will receive $3,000 for the term from the National Science Foundation through Shoreline Community College
If spending some well-supported time re-vamping your exam writing sounds like a good fit for you, please take the recruitment survey. All respondents will hear back in June.
If you know instructors at two-year colleges teaching courses in any STEM field that should see this opportunity, please do forward this message broadly with the team's thanks!
