Dr. Jill Biden speaks with members of the Montgomery College community
Could this be the time that America realizes just how crucial community colleges are? An event in the Investing in America tour that featured Dr. Jill Biden, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and members of the Montgomery College (MC) community highlighted the role community colleges can play in workforce training.
The moderated conversation, held at NSF in Alexandria, VA, gave MC President Dr. Jermaine F. Williams a chance to detail MC's partnership with NSF including its most recent Advanced Technological Education grant aimed at increasing the number of biopharmaceutical technicians. Williams said that "With support like this from the NSF and the CHIPS and Science Act, America's 1,000 community college are ready to do more--to deliver homegrown talent for homegrown jobs for a strong America." Student Williams Ochoa described his journey at Montgomery College and hopes for his career in bio-manufacturing, while the dean of instruction for the College's Chemical and Biological Science programs praised faculty support as integral to students' success in the biotechnology industry.
