InnovATEBIO Bioscience Leadership Institute

The InnovATEBIO Bioscience Leadership Institute (BLI), cohort 2,  is a professional development program for community college and K-12 bioscience instructors who are interested in joining the next generation of leaders.

Senior industry, workforce and academic experts will collaborate with participants on the subject of leadership, not from an academic perspective but from a workplace point of view. The program will stress strategizing, problem solving, team building and leading people.

When:  The BLI will be held over a period of 8 months from December 1st, 2024, to June 5, 2025.

Fall 2024 & Spring 2025, Part A will be virtual. It will consist of defining leadership styles, solving cases by working in teams. One cohort of twelve participants will complete the problem case work given by our industry experts. During this period, the cohort, working in teams, will problem solve via Zoom.  In addition, each participant will apply their leadership style to a situation case that they design and will report on.

June 3-5, 2025, Part B will be in person at the National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce at Forsyth Technical Community College, in Winston-Salem, NC, for a period of not less than two full days in June 2025.  This portion of the Institute will include a presentation on the participants own case, debriefing, meeting the subject matter experts, and graduation. All participants may receive a stipend upon completion. Pre-approved Leadership Institute travel may be arranged by Forsyth Tech, where your plane ticket and hotel may be paid for directly by the grant. Other pre-approved travel expenses may be reimbursed according to Forsyth Technical Community College’s travel policies and procedures and the Travel Authorization.
