How can you teach strategies for protein purification without a lab?

Protein Purification is an award-winning program which has been widely used in schools, colleges and universities since 1983. If it's one thing I've learned in my technique classes is that there is a lot of 'hurry up and wait' procedures. Working with proteins is definitely no exception.

For the past month or so my protein class has been working on purifying bacterial alkaline phosphatase (BAP). Time flies when you're having fun. I am convinced that I had so much fun from the middle of last term to the present that I actually time travelled into the future. OK. Maybe I'm not actually convinced, but I'm highly suspicious.
